We strategically unite rural community dwellers around mutual challenges, and opportunities, helping local partners move out of poverty and into collective impact for children and youth.

project 1: RUHELP FARM

Land is a gold mine

We enlighten our people to exploit land for crop production and animal husbandry. We use our farms as role models and as places where people learn agricultural techniques by doing. Our farms offer jobs to a multitude of rural community dwellers. Food from the farm feeds the local community and neighboring countries.

INVESTMENT IN PLANTING MORE YOUNG PALMS.

We bought seven(07) hectares of land at Bokwa village near Widikum for the farm. In November 2015 we nursed 500 palm seedlings and in March 2017 we transplanted 438 in three hectares of the land. Now we look forward to plant 75 palms on half a hectare each year for sustainability.

Each palm is capable to produce 30 cones every three months.

One hectare of land (146 – 150 palms) can produce 4-5 tones of crude palm oil per year and about one tone of palm kernel oil. In Cameroon, 35 liters of palm oil cost between 10000FRS to 30000FRS CFA.

Other products from oil palms include palm wine, kernel oil, palm frond bags and palm frond brooms for sweeping or gathering dirt.

Investment to transform Palm nuts to oil.

The first 438 palms will soon start producing bunches or cones.

Our greatest challenge and target now is to construct oil milling station/palm oil processing unit that encompasses a bunch sterilizer, bunch thresher, fruit digester, pulp compressor, oil clarification, and dryer.

Thereafter, the search for a market and means of transportation of the oil.

There are two types of oil that can be extracted from palm fruit: Palm oil, which comes from the pulp of the fruit, and palm kernel oil, which comes from the seed.

project 2: RUHELP FARM

Land is a gold mine

Investment in Cacao Planting:
As Cocoa is the essential ingredient for our chocolate and butter, we intend in the next five years to plant cocoa on at least three hectares of the land to create employment to the rural vulnerable group.
However, Cocoa is a delicate, sensitive plant. Farmers must protect trees from wind and sun, fertilize the soil, and watch for signs of disease or distress. With proper care, most cocoa trees yield pods by the fourth or fifth year and can continue for another 30 years.
A typical cocoa pod contains 30 to 40 beans and there are about 30 pods per tree; approximately 400 dried beans are required to make one pound of cocoa.
One kilogram of cocoa cost between 1000 FCFA and 2000 FCFA in Cameroon.
